Thuderstorms,.damage and death - climate change?

Severe thunderstorms carrying destructive winds lashed Sydney, after four major storm cells tracked a destructive path across city's west and southwest suburbs before passing through the eastern suburbs and out to sea.

Reports of extensive damage emerged on Thursday afternoon, with NSW police confirming a male passenger had died when a tree fell onto his car as it travelled east down Nepean Street in Emu Plains around 2pm.

(Climate scientists are correctly reluctant to attribute any one event to climate change, rather preferring to look for trends, patterns and simply say the likelihood of worsening weather that can manifest as droughts, heavy downpours and unpredictable storms can been seen as evidence of a disrupted climate system. That said, south eastern Australia, and in particular Sydney, appears to be on the frontline of those trends and patterns – Robert McLean).
