The failure of
Australia’s media to link the country’s present heatwave difficulties to
climate change has been explored on The Conversation by Simon Dicheva from the
Environment Institute at the University of Adelaide.
His story, headed: “Media is missing climate in heatwave story”
tells us that of some 800 articles in the past 10 days, fewer than ten of those
discussed “climate change”, “greenhouse gas”, carbon or “global warming”.
“Even with the occasional mention,” he writes, “these
articles often obscure the link.”
