Josh Frydenberg accuses Alan Jones of peddling conspiracy theories

Environment and Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg has accused broadcaster Alan Jones of engaging in conspiracy theories on the government's energy policies.

Jones, who has long promoted opinions on energy and climate change that are out of step with the well-established science, was lambasting the government's Snowy Hydro 2.0 project and questioning why some information was not made public.

Frydenberg refuses to repent as Alan Jones tries to exorcise energy blasphemy

A couple of weeks ago, Alan Jones exposed what will hitherto be known as the furtive front lawn declaration. According to Jones, Josh Frydenberg had confessed to him on the front lawn of his Melbourne home that “the global warming stuff was rubbish”.

By his own account, the Sydney shock jock shared this insight because he’d been irritated by the federal energy minister’s frankness about Tony Abbott’s serial wrecking tactics on energy policy and other matters. The upstart. Where was the damn respect?

Apparently one can observe deliberate wrecking tactics with one’s own eyes but one can’t mention them in polite company – at least not without having to field a friendly call from Peta Credlin, or an on-air homily from Jones.

2GB's Alan Jones had not taken enough care over IPCC statements

adio station 2GB and its outspoken breakfast host Alan Jones breached broadcasting rules over statements made by Jones about climate change in 2013, the media watchdog has ruled.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority found that Jones had not taken enough care to make accurate statements about a leaked Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, while an attempted correction by the radio host was “not adequate and appropriate in all the circumstances and so did not cure the breach.”

In September 2013, Jones told his listeners: “What has been leaked tells us the report will admit that its computer drastically overestimated rising temperatures and over the past 60 years the world in fact has been warming at half the rate claimed in the previous IPCC report in 2007.”

Only 'discomfort' can be found in The Galileo Movement

 the rather suspect Galileo Movement.

We should be finding comfort in such things as “The Galileo Movement” according to a fellow who recently called a Beneath the Wisteria supporter.

That “comfort” is to be found, according to the caller, in the beliefs and values of the movement, which bluntly denies and rejects the unequivocal science and evidence that clearly tells us that earth’s climate is changing and you and I, humans, are distinctly responsible.

A story published in 2011 by Scientific American headed: “’Galileo Movement’ Fuels Climate Change Divide in Australia” instantly alerts readers to the movement’s beliefs and stance.

In fact the first red flag goes up upon reading that the movement’s patron is Sydney shock-jock, Alan Jones, and those affiliated with the organization include News Ltd columnist, Andrew Bolt, discredited scientist, Fred Singer, and public speaker, Christopher Monckton.
