Unpredictable life made even more so because of climate change


Summer in Victoria cooler than
anticipated, but fire risk remains.
Life has always been hugely unpredictable, and now the complications of climate change make it even more so.

As our planet warms because of human intervention that Melbourne’s just ended summer would have been the scene of new heat records.

Oddly, that was not the case and so we escaped what is traditionally the hottest time of the year without venturing into that record territory.

Today’s Melbourne Age reports that summer has ended without a single 40-degree plus day.

Climate Council links fires to climate change


Fire risks in Australia are worsened because of climate change, according to the Climate Council, formerly the Federal Government’s Climate Commission.

A story in today’s (October 25) Age headed: “Climate change raising fire risk”, tells about findings by the newly formed council.
