CSIRO launch program to make Australia hydrogen fuel leader

The CSIRO has launched new Future Science Platforms to make Australia a renewable energy exporter and hydrogen fuel hotspot.

Australia is seeking to become a world
leader in hydrogen fuel technology.

It is investing $13.5 million into hydrogen fuel research and tailored health solutions.

Hydrogen fuel has been touted as a major future energy source. The development of a Hydrogen FSP will support the creation of technologies that will enable Australia to export its solar energy and a low-emissions energy source.

"Under our strategy 2020, we're committed to increasing funding for science that underpins innovation and will reinvent and create new industries and jobs for Australia's future," CSRIO chief executive Larry Marshall said.

$300b spend proves perception wrong

The perception among many is that on a world-scale, Australia’s contribution to global carbon dioxide emission is so tiny that there is no point in us doing anything until the global powers act.

China has many
things, but the most
troubling is
pollution.

Along with that, those some people seem unaware, or don’t care, that individually, Australians are among the world’s worst offenders.

And as for the global powers acting, the ABC reports that: “China to spend $300 billion tackling pollution as coal consumption grows”.

It is worth noting that Australia is the world’s largest exporter of coal and subsequently many have become obscenely wealthy though the sale of Australian coal to China.

Sheer size means China will be, inescapably, among the worst polluters, but it is also spending with enthusiasm to clean up its mess.
